Ninth Annual Bill Carver Track & Field Classic

Reid Ross Classical School, Fayetteville NC, April 12, 2008

This is the ninth year of the Bill Carver Track & Field Classic, sponsored by E. E. Smith High School and the City of Fayetteville Parks & Recreation Department.  This an annual event.

LOCATION

The track facility is adjacent to Reid Ross Classical School, 3200 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, NC.  This a 8 lane, 42 inches red all weather track, with three long jump pits, and two shot put circles.  This site has been the location of many meets including the CIAA Championship, the NC High School Regional Championship, and the Junior Olympic State Championship.

SANCTION

This meet is sanctioned with the  NCHSAA.  Only High School member may participate.  All athletes must belong to their high school team and must be accompanied by a coach from that school.

ENTRY

 DEADLINE

Each school is allowed to enter four (4) athletes per event. Each athlete may enter no more than four (4) events to include field events and relays. All entries must be received by Thursday, April 10. No entries will be accepted after this date.  No faxed entries will be accepted.  Scratches will be submitted by 12:00 am, Friday, April 11. FEES

$ 55 Per team or $ 90 for both girls and boys  teams, or $ 10 per athlete will be charged.  Make all checks payable to  E.E. Smith High School Athletics. DO NOT MAIL CHECK, BRING IT WITH YOU.

ADMISSION

There is a $ 3 admission fee per adult spectators.

CHECK-IN

Team packets will be available for pick-up at the track beginning at 7am Saturday prior to the meet.  There will be no addition made after April 10.

WARM-UPS

The track may be used for warm-ups until 9 am on April 12.  After this time, all warm-ups should be done on the yellow football / soccer field.  Please do not set up any tents on the multi-purpose fields.  During the course of the meet, only those athletes called to their events will be  allowed on the infield or track. Any other athlete on the infield will be DQ from the meet. Athletes should report to checking by the second call after third call they will be scratched.

EQUIPMENT

1/8” spikes are recommended.  Using spikes longer than ¼”  will result in disqualification from that event.  AUTOMATIC TIMING by FINISH LYNX and starting blocks will be provided.  Each team must provide their throwing implements.  Personal, walkman-type radios are the only music systems allowed in the stadium.

RULES

All National Federation rules will be strictly enforced.  Rule 4-3 concerning uniforms will be enforced.  No jewelry, hats, hair pins or headbands are allowed.  Team scoring will be through eight places.

AWARDS

Trophies will be awarded to the top three teams in both boys and girls divisions.  Medals will be awarded to the top three places in each event.  The outstanding track athlete and field athlete in both boys and girls divisions will be given plaques.

SOUVENIRS

Commemorative shirts will be on sale for $ 8 for medium and large and   $ 10 for extra large and up.

CONCESSIONS

Food and drinks are available all day.
