Carver Classic

The 18th Annual Bill Carver Track & Field Classic Invitational will be held on March 31 and April 1 2017. This event is sponsored by City of Fayetteville Parks & Recreation Department and Cumberland County Schools. Please note: ALL HIGH SCHOOL CLASSIFCATION & PRIVATE SCHOOLS (OUT OF STATE HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS MAY PARTICIPATE).

LOCATION

The track facility is adjacent to Reid Ross Classical School, 3200 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, NC. This is an 8 lane, 42 inches red all-weather track. It also has four long jump pits, and two shot put circles. The pole vault and wheel chair are newly added events. This site has been the location of many athletic events including, the CIAA Championship, the NC High School Regional Championship, and the Junior Olympic State Championship.

SANCTION

This meet is sanctioned with the NCHSAA. All athletes must belong to their high school team and must be accompanied by a coach from that school. The qualifying standards for ALL field events are: LJ boys 17′/ girls 13′, TJ boys 38′ / girls 27′, SP boys 40 / girls 28′, Discus boys 110′ / girls 84′,HJ boys 5’5″ / girls 4’4″, PV boys 8′ / girls 6′. All Field Event Participants will get at least 1 mark even if it does not meet the standard. The newly added wheelchair athlete events are shot put, discuss, and 100m.

ENTRY DEADLINE

Each school is allowed to enter three (3) athletes per event. Each athlete may enter no more than four (4) events to include field events and relays. All entries must be received by 11:59 pm on March 27, 2017. No entries will be accepted after this date. No faxed entries will be accepted. Scratches will be submitted on March 27 by 11:59 pm, (no replacement or add on). The make-up date is April 8. FEES

Friday ONLY – $65 Per team or $95 for both girls and boys teams, or $25 per athlete will be charged.
Saturday ONLY – $65 Per team or $95 for both girls and boys teams, or $25 per athlete will be charged.
Friday and Saturday – $90 Per team or $150 for both girls and boys teams, or $25 per athlete will be charged.

ADMISSION

There is a $5 admission fee per adult spectators.

CHECK-IN

Team packets will be available for pick-up at the track beginning at 8:15 am Saturday prior to the meet. Coaches meeting will be held at 8:50 am. There will be no addition made after March 28.

WARM-UPS

The track may be used for warm-ups until 4 pm on March 31 and 10 am on April 1. After this time, all warm-ups should be done on the yellow football / soccer field. Please do not set up any tents on the multi-purpose fields. During the course of the meet, only those athletes called to their events will be allowed on the infield or track. Any other athlete on the infield will be DQ from the meet. Athletes should report to check-in by the second call after third call they will be scratched.

EQUIPMENT

1/8” spikes are recommended. Using spikes longer than ¼” will result in disqualification from that event. AUTOMATIC TIMING by FINISH LYNX and starting blocks will be provided. Each team must provide their throwing implements. Equipment check in is at 8:50. Personal, Walkman-type radios are the only music systems allowed in the stadium.

RULES

All National Federation rules will be strictly enforced. Team scoring will be through eight places.

AWARDS

Trophies will be awarded to the top three teams in both boys and girls divisions. Medals will be awarded to the top three places in each event. The MVP track athlete and MVP field athlete in both boys and girls divisions will be given plaques. Outstanding Senior award will be awarded to a boy and girl athlete. Co-ed 1st place trophy for highest combined team score.

SOUVENIRS

Commemorative shirts will be on sale for $ 10 for small/medium,  $ 12 large and $ 14 for extra large and up.

CONCESSIONS

Food and drinks are available all day.
